Safeguarding in Education
The core purpose for our training is to achieve better outcomes for children and young people by fostering a shared responsibility of the tasks, processes, principles, roles and responsibilities as outlined in national guidance and local arrangements for safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.

Our Safeguarding in Education Officers constantly strive to deliver excellence through training to maintain standards and include updates that are in line with legislation, policy and guidance whilst being affordable. We aim to promote collaborative working and a partnership approach to the prevention of abuse and neglect through training delivery including highlighting the importance of early help and intervention.
Key priorities:
- Delivery of effective training to staff and governors in schools and colleges
- Ensuring all training is in line with KCSIE 2016 and relevant national guidance
- Bespoke workshops throughout the year concentrating on specific topics for school staff and governors
- Ensuring prompt and effective responses to provide help for children and families, managing abuse and neglect, including referral processes and signposting across agencies
- Support with the Annual Safeguarding Report and LSCB’s Competencies Framework
- Support and understanding assisting those staff members referring concerns to Children Social Care
- Safeguarding Health Check to ensure schools are achieving safeguarding standards
- Promoting access and involvement to safeguarding training

The Safeguarding in Education Officers (SIE) deliver a range of training courses as well as workshops on specific core topics. This is a valuable opportunity for practitioners to come together and share their knowledge and expertise in a safe and stimulating learning environment. We believe that an integral and evolving part of the overall Safeguarding in Education work stream is evaluating training and workshops that are delivered. This includes evaluation of each session, training material, content and delivery.
