School receives Platinum Artsmark Award

Mellor Community Primary School are delighted to hear that they have achieved the Platinum Artsmark. They are the first school in Leicester/shire to obtain the award and one of only five schools in the East Midlands.

The school is proud of its arts-based learning approach and the strong links it has forged with arts and cultural organisations, which they believe have made learning more powerful and memorable for the pupils at Mellor.  The school manages the Cross Corners Arts Centre which provides weekly enrichment opportunities to pupils and leads the Mighty Creative, Educational Partnership in Leicestershire region  providing arts support and promotion across schools to encourage the Arts Mark journey.  11 members of school staff have obtained Arts Award Accreditor status and 200 children a year regularly obtain Art Awards for projects undertaken as part of the creative curriculum that have been developed and embedded within the school.
